Born 1993, Tel Aviv, Israel. Lives and works in the United States.
Shai-Lee Horodi is a pre-conceptual, multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the limits of sight, perception, and understanding. Through tabletop monuments, childlike drawings, and experimental moving images, she recasts notions of weight and significance into small, elusive fragments—works that resist easy consumption. Her “blind photographs” and “still-movies” deny the comfort of passive viewing, offering too little for the distracted yet enough for the attentive. In her *eye mirrors*, Horodi playfully entraps the gaze itself, turning vision into both subject and snare.
Horodi has presented solo exhibitions at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Dvir Gallery (Tel Aviv), and Hong Kong Derrick Barge (Duisburg, Germany). She holds a BFA from HaMidrasha Faculty of Art and an MFA from Northwestern University (Chicago).
Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions, including at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and Salon de Paris. She is the recipient of the Raffi Lavie Scholarship and the Morel Derfler Prize of the Musrara School of Art.
