Dor Guez Munayer born in Jerusalem. Lives and works in Jaffa.
Guez is a Jerusalemite artist of Christian Palestinian and Tunisian Jewish origin. He is the founder of the CPA (Christian-Palestinian Archive), The Head of the MFA Program at Bezalel, and the Director of Seaport: Mediterranean Curatorial Residency Program. Dor Guez produces photography and video installations that explore the relationship between art, narrative and memory, interrogating personal and official accounts of the past. His practice raises questions about contemporary art’s role in narrating unwritten histories and re-contextualizing visual and written documents.
His works have been displayed in over fifty solo exhibitions worldwide, including Laboratorio Arte Alameda in Mexico City; MAMBO Bogota, Jewish Museum of New York; Princeton Art Museum, New Jersey; Galerie Kunst im Kreuzgang in Bielefeld; Museum for Islamic Art, Jerusalem; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Detroit; the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, the Center for Contemporary Art, Tel Aviv; Centre for Contemporary Arab Culture & Art, London; the KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin among others. His works are in public collections, among others at the Tate Modern (London), the Center Pompidou (Paris), the Guggenheim (Abu Dhabi), the Jewish Museum (New York), the Rose Art Museum (Boston), the Princeton Art Museum (New Jersey), the FRAC collection (Marseille), the Tel Aviv Museum of Art (Tel Aviv), the Museum of Modern Art (Bogota), and many others.
