Born 1971, Kibbutz Givat Haim, Israel. Lives and works in Kfar Hogla, Israel.
Vered Nachmani creates paintings that merge abstraction and representation, producing works that are at once dreamlike and strikingly photorealistic. Her subjects often stem from nature, her immediate surroundings, family, and childhood memories. Working frequently from photographs, Nachmani remains attentive to the source while taking interpretive liberties: her brushstrokes are expressive, rivulets of paint flow freely across the canvas, sections are intentionally left blank, and multiple perspectives and layers of disparate images are integrated to create complex, resonant compositions. Through these strategies, her work balances fidelity and imagination, capturing both the specificity of memory and the fluidity of perception.
Nachmani has exhibited extensively, including at the Israel Museum, Mishkan Museum of Art (Ein Harod), Haifa Museum of Art, Negev Museum of Art (Be’er Sheva), and Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art. She was awarded the Prize for a Young Artist by the Ministry of Culture of Israel in 2003, recognizing her early contribution to contemporary painting.
