Simon Fujiwara at Art Düsseldorf

The Julia Stoschek Foundation will present for the first time Simon Fujiwara’s video installation Once Upon a Who? (2021) at this year’s edition of Art Düsseldorf, taking place from April 11 to 13, 2025, with the opening on Thursday, April 10 at 4 p.m. 

 

The work follows “Who the Bær,” a cartoon bear with no fixed identity, on a fast-paced journey through the world of digital imagery. Both playful and incisive, Fujiwara’s installation reflects on how identity is constructed and performed in contemporary visual culture. Set against the backdrop of an image-saturated world, Once Upon a Who? raises timely questions about authenticity, representation, and the stories we tell about ourselves.
