Jonathan Monk at Belvedere Museum, Vienna, Austria

At Belvedere, British artist Jonathan Monk presents Limited Company, his first solo exhibition in an Austrian museum. Known for his critical yet playful engagement with the legacy of Conceptual and Minimal Art, Monk revisits iconic artistic gestures through strategies of appropriation, repetition, and irony.

For this show, he transforms the exhibition space with a site-specific installation: a large curtain made of fabric panels printed with images of past projects, stretching across two sides of the gallery. A selection of works from various series responds to this central piece, echoing his ongoing interest in seriality, doubling, and the mechanics of display.

Through this layered and self-referential practice, Monk continues to question the notions of originality, authorship, and the rituals of contemporary art production.
