DOR GUEZ: LECTURE-PERFORMANCE

Kandinsky Library, Centre Pompidou
Centre Pompidou Paris is pleased to present Dor Guez’s first artist lecture performance in France.
In a photography-centered multimedia practice, Guez considers the role of image making, architecture, cartography, and botany in shaping the identity of various places and territories. His artistic practice is a form of storytelling, and of narrating unwritten histories. The lecture performance is taking place in parallel to Dor Guez's solo exhibition in Dvir Gallery / Paris, 'Gina, mon coeur' (02.09.23 — 14.10.2023).

Guez was born in Jerusalem to a Palestinian family on his mother's side and a family of Jewish immigrants from Tunisia on his father’s. During his lecture-performances, Guez shares historical photographs of his family archive and from the past century of photography in Palestine, one of the most frequently photographed geographies in the history of the medium. Mapping connections between public and private archives, Guez’s performance considers his homeland as the site of colonial projections and strategies.
