Mircea Cantor: Collaboration with DIOR

"I feel proud and honored to leave my touch on the iconic Lady Dior bag. My creation is called the Garden of paradise (Jardin du Paradis/ Grädina Raiului) inspired by a jacket that I found in the region in Romania from where my grandmother comes and superposing it on the square pattern derived from the classic Dior bags - a pattern that reminds me the rationality of The Chateau de Versailles gardens. Leather ropes twisted to enhance a solar geometry that ravels in front of your eyes like an endless entrelacs. Beyond the inherent beauty that radiates, I wanted to pay hommage to a lineage of artisans and krafts men that keep the flame alive via a permanent renewal of what we can call a universal tradition and savoir faire."
