Naama Tsabar : Rewilding Opening exhibition of the new Kunsthaus Baselland

Kunsthaus Baselland, Basel

Dvir gallery is delighted to share Naama Tsabar's participation in a group exhibition Rewilding at Kunsthaus Baselland

Rewilding marks the opening of the new Kunsthaus Baselland at its new location at Dreispitz. Around thirty national and international artists from different generations and countries have been invited to participate. Their works, many of which are new productions, explicitly address contemporary ecological, feminist and sociocultural issues.

In the context of the opening exhibition, Rewilding therefore means: to provide a new home for the dynamic creative forces that the Kunsthaus has harbored since its inception and wishes to continue to foster in its new location; to revive the dynamic of a site that was originally used for handling goods and is now part of a huge urban structural transformation; and to demonstrate creative new ways in which we as a society, despite these times of crisis, can move toward a positive future that is characterized by respect, friendship and—where necessary—forgiveness in our relationships with each other and with all living beings and species around us. Rewilding therefore also stands for a positive, collaborative new beginning.

Melody of Certain Damage, which is on display at the Kunsthaus Baselland, is also a highly topical image in times of war and violence, especially in terms of the horrific conflicts and wars currently taking place: shattered electric guitars, broken, destroyed and seemingly worthless, can be brought back to (acoustic) life by the approaching movements of the viewer and their gentle touch. A sign that—despite seemingly rampant violence and inhumanity—it is still possible to find common ground and (re)discover words, sound and music together.
