From May 30th, MAXXI in Rome will present Pretty much every film and video work from about 1992 until now, a large-scale installation by Scottish artist Douglas Gordon.
Housed in Gallery 5, the installation brings together 82 of Gordon’s video and film works shown simultaneously on multiple screens. Among the works included are iconic pieces such as 24 Hour Psycho (1993), Play Dead; Real Time (2003), The End of Civilisation (2012), and Silence, Exile, Deceit: an industrial pantomime (2013).
More than a retrospective, the project offers an open, sculptural environment in which Gordon’s long-standing concerns—perception, repetition, memory—are experienced in real time across space.
