Sigalit Landau

Sigalit Landau is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice spans installation‭, ‬video‭, ‬photography‭, ‬sculpture‭, ‬and painting‭. ‬Central to her work is the ongoing Dead Sea Project‭, ‬a body of artworks in which everyday objects are submerged in the salt-rich waters of the Dead Sea and gradually transformed by crystalline growth‭. ‬This natural process turns ordinary items into striking‭, ‬otherworldly forms‭, ‬reflecting themes of change‭, ‬memory‭, ‬and cultural resonance‭. ‬For Landau‭, ‬the Dead Sea is both a personal landscape and a symbolic site‮—‬one that connects past‭, ‬present‭, ‬and future through cycles of transformation‭.‬

Her work has been presented in major solo exhibitions at institutions including the Israel Museum‭, ‬Jerusalem‭; ‬Kunstfest Weimar‭, ‬Germany‭; ‬Rubin Museum‭, ‬Tel Aviv‭; ‬Museum der Moderne‭, ‬Salzburg‭; ‬Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal‭; ‬MACBA‭, ‬Barcelona‭; ‬the Israeli Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale‭; ‬MoMA‭, ‬New York‭.‬

Landau is the recipient of numerous awards‭, ‬among them the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship‭, ‬the Wolf Foundation Ingeborg Bachmann Scholarship‭ (‬established by Anselm Kiefer‭), ‬the Nathan Gottesdiener Foundation Israeli Art Award‭, ‬the Sandberg‭ ‬Prize for Israeli Art‭, ‬and the French Republic’s Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres‭.‬
